Which size Helping Hand?

Sitting down to get dressed, reaching from a chair or standing up in the kitchen – up to around 5’8″ the standard size (26″/66cm) will easily do all your jobs. If you are needing a little extra reach up to higher shelves and/or over 5’10, we would recommend the longer size (32″/81cm) to avoid any any unnecessary stretching or balancing acts.

FAQ's

Here you will find the frequently asked questions about the Handi-Grip MAX. If you cannot find the answer you are looking for, contact us on our live Jivo-Chat service or call us on 01531 635678 and we will be happy to help!

Which Reacher should I choose?

We’ve put together a handy overview of all our Helping Hand Reaching Aids, making it easier for you to choose which one is right for you, or the person you are buying for. Click here to read.

How do I measure my Reacher?

The length is from the end of the Reacher (jaw) to the top of the handle. This will either be our  standard 26″ or longer 32″ length.

What lengths does the Handi-Grip MAX Reacher come in?

Standard size (26″/66cm) or longer size (32″/81cm).

What is the weight of the Handi-Grip MAX pick up stick?

26″/66cm – 285g.

32″/81cm – 306g.

What is the heaviest weight I can pick up with my Reacher tool?

We advise you to not pick up objects greater than 1kg as this will snap the wire inside.

Why is the handle squishy?

The handle has a soft gel texture, this is perfect for users who struggle to grip, have arthritis, limited hand strength, or suffer with Parkinson’s.

How do I activate the locking trigger? Pick up a item as you would and gently press the red button built into the trigger. You can then remove all fingers from the trigger and the claw will firmly grip the item. To release the claw, again, gently press the red button and this will open the jaw. The wire inside my Handi-Grip MAX has snapped – can I order a spare? Unfortunately we are unable to supply spare wire cords. The cord is an integral part of the grabber, therefore we will need you to send this back to us under our lifetime guarantee and we will repair and recycle or replace for a new unit.

Does my grabber come with a stick clip?

Yes it does, however some customers prefer to buy extra in case this one gets lost, broken or for extra stability (one at the top and one at the bottom).

Can I buy extra clips?

Yes, click here to purchase extra clips.

How do I attach my clips?

Please find Stick Clip instructions here.

Does this Reacher have a magnet on?

Unfortunately not, Magnets are only on the Classic Pro, Classic Max and Classic Pro Folding grabbers.

What is the lifetime guarantee?

Your faithful friend for over 21 years our Reachers/Grabbers are well used. We will be happy to give yours a freshen up if they stop working (as a result of general wear and tear not misuse).

Can I use this Reacher outdoors for litter picking?

No, this grabber is for indoor use only. We have a website for all your litter picking needs – click here.

Can this be used as a walking aid?

No, this Reacher cannot be used as a walking aid.

  7. Mrs Lorna Dyter

    Very good thank you

  8. Sue Hawkins

These two are significantly narrower in what they can pick up!!
I can no longer pick up a jam jar size item from a shelf which is one of the main reasons I wanted more of these since my husband died.
    I am really disappointed.
Please bring back the ones with wider grabber ends

  9. Margaret Ford

Had my Helping Hand over 20 years – as the years have gone by I rely on it more and more. I do not know what I would do without it, I use it for so muc! It’s superb.

  22. Devon Daisy – Amazon Customer

I purchased this for my elderly mother whose grip is weak. This design was easy to use for her and the lock button perfectly placed to allow for when her loosening grip would usually mean dropping the item. My
She says it’s the best one she’s ever owned!
I would very highly recommend this for people who are less dexterous and have a weaker grip to usual.
It’s a good light weight too, but still very sturdy.

  23. gclarke56 – Amazon Customer

Post Op I needed one of these. The silicone tips mean that it can pick up small items which look almost impossible to get. Even managed to pick up a craft knife off the floor. It has a locking feature so that you don’t let go of things. I saw it in the hospital and thought it was better than the one I had at home.

  24. Mr M – Amazon Customer

The lock button is extremely useful if you have limited use in your arms or hands. I use two hands to give a firmer grip on heavier objects while squeezing the red button.
A good product that grips well and is comfortable to use. Lifetime warranty is a bonus

  25. Meg Young

Helps me reach for something as I am disabled

  26. WILLIAM SULLIVAN – Trustpilot

Excellent product but quite expensive in Ireland due to Brexit additional VAT.

  27. Anthony Woodbridge – Trustpilot

Very useful, good for picking apples

  28. Brian Dawson

Excellent for people having difficulty bending especially after an operation or have a Stoma Bag fitted.
